The Unborn Doha

Image
The Unborn Doha See the Short Film based on this text on Youtube here:  Unborn Unbound Infinity Looking ahead... Looking at time,  the clock in the wall, time passing by... The time that measures our search, our seeking. We move and we search and we search, what do we search for? Restless, restless, moving, moving, where are we going? It is time that drives our restlessness What is it that the clock measures? The sun rises in the morning and sets in the evening.  Everything else the mind creates...  well defined mathematical fantasies Look to the future and the promise it holds, they say We must improve and develop, grow, they say We must do better, they say We must build a better tomorrow, they say What are we building and do we even know why? Who can build a tomorrow? Has anyone ever seen a tomorrow? Where is it? And what is wrong with now? Holding ideas of better tomorrows, tensions grow and rise and  within ourselves,  b...

Searching for Udyana

Image
Searching for the Kingdom of Udyana The kingdom of Udyana (or Oddiyana) is considered as the historical source of many spiritual traditions and teachings of great importance. From Udyana have emerged the teachings of Buddhist Tantra and Mahasandhi (Dzogchen), and also many of the great accomplished saints and siddhas of the past have their origin in this mysterious kingdom, such as Padmasambhava the founder of Tibetan Buddhism and Prahevajra the first teacher to present the teachings of Mahasandhi, among many others. However Udyana is not simply a mythological place, a place of legends and old stories, Udyana is known to refer to a concrete historical kingdom and references to its existence are found in many historical sources. In this article I will try to review some of the known historical information about Udyana in an attempt to explore the main prevailing views regarding the location of Udyana. So far in our current times two theories circulate regarding the location of Udy...

The 11 Guidelines for Success and Well-being

The 11 Guidelines for Success and Well-being Nowadays we are in a time where everyone is talking about success and how to develop personal success. These are keywords we hear and see again and again everywhere: Succeed, achieve, build, develop, growth. However we also live in a period in history with the highest levels of depression, anxiety, stress related illness and conflict at all levels. Already young children are placed under incredible pressure to 'be better'. So what kind of success are we trying to build? What kind of world are we creating? This constant struggle to develop and control the world and life, is in itself a source of great stress and anxiety, and in the end have we forgotten how to live in harmony without life itself and the world around us? Is this one of the reasons why human beings 'consume' everything, consume  'things', each other, and the planet itself ? This vision of success is build upon conflict and strife, where mostly one pe...

Evolution and Compassion

< versão Portuguesa> Since time immemorial Men has searched within for a sense of personal meaning and understanding of reality. Over the last century that search seems to have focused almost exclusively in the outer material world, but as time is the greatest of teachers, to those who pay attention, slowly we see that people start to understand that such answers are to be found within ourselves, and not in mathematical rules about the material world. Already 2500 years ago the Buddha has said that the way to happiness and freedom is: "Practice Virtue, Abandon evil doing, Tame your Mind", and, "your ego-self is illusory and attachment to yourself is the root of all problems" - and in fact this is considered the very essence, heart and life force of the spiritual path and not just in Buddhism. Today these teachings I feel are of crucial importance, in a world that is increasingly selfish, materialist and that measures success by how much a person can ...
